Cambridge Uni

Hey,
I’m going into y13 hence thinking about uni choices, I’m considering Cambridge for HSPS (human, social and political science) but I was wondering if it’s even worth it as my grades aren’t the best but I do a plethora of extra curricular.
I have 1 8, 4 7s, 4 6s at GCSE and am predicted A*AA in Psychology, History, Economics.
My extras include a range but here’s a few examples, an A in EPQ, LAMDA exams grades 1-8 distinctions. A diploma in communication and more.
I am applying for Law elsewhere (Manchester, Bham, Notts)
I am not applying for Law at Cambridge as I didn’t do the LNAT.
Thanks for any help.

I can't advise you exactly on what you asked but
1) Your extracurriculars will not benefit your application in any way unless they are directly related to your subject (i.e. supercurriculars). Unless LAMDA and your communication diploma are related, they will confer no benefit whatsoever.
2) You will struggle to have a competitive application applying for both Law and HSPS. It is true that universities can't see what you've applied for elsewhere but you have to send them the same application and the same personal statement (or whatever is replacing it). If you have a personal statement written for Law when applying for HSPS, you will not have a competitive application. I would also advise against trying to aim for both as they may still doubt your commitment to HSPS.

Sorry to be negative, but I would very surprised if you got in because

1) your PS would need to be predominantly about law if you are to get into other law schools
2) your grades are a bit below par, although that by itself would not be a showstopper
3) your extra curricular do not sound very relevant
4) HSPS is hyper competitive.

Law is competitive at all good unis these days so I would focus everything on that if I were you.

How about if I did a foundation year for law at Cambridge

My understanding is you take the LNAT the cycle you are applying for any time between September and June, so why don't you just take the LNAT this September and apply to law at Cambridge?

I haven’t prepared for the LNAT, I won’t do well at all.
