Biggest decision of my life so far

Hi everyone, I have a big decision coming up.

There are two option that I have. Before I explain, I would like to say that my long term goal is to work in high finance; in investment banking, private equity, or any particularly lucrative finance career path.

The first option is to potentially go to QUB in Belfast with a scholarship that I have applied to. I have not gotten it yet, so this is only a possibility, but a fairly likely one (1/4 chance of winning it as I made it to the final 4 candidates following interviews). It is provided by kpmg. The scholarship includes summer internships, a guaranteed graduate job at kpmg, and a mentor throughout my degree (BSc finance, entry requirements are ABB).

The second is to take a gap year, potentially work at a high paying job at Seagateduring this time, possibly do an extra A-level, and reapply to target universities (lse, ucl, Oxford, Warwick). The job at Seagate is titled: “manufacturing specialist” and will require me to work in a team to produce manufacturing heads for hard drives. I have been invited for an interview this job following a skills assessment. If I get it, not only will it give me the chance to invest some money in stocks, but it would look great on a personal statement for a physics or engineering degree which I am open to doing.

I achieved A*AA in A level maths, physics, and business. My question is: which option will provide me with the best opportunities to get into high finance?
