Is getting 6 grade 8s as good as 6 grade 9s in the eyes of Oxbridge?

I have gotten my gcse results and overall very happy. However I was hoping that some of my subjects that I have got 8s in would be 9s as that was what I was getting the whole of the last year. I got overall 9,9,8,8,8,8,8,8,7
but I’m having a couple of the grade 8s and the 7 remarked as they were near the grades up! Are the grade 8s seen as just as good as a grade 9 to Oxbridge? Thanks so much in advance x
Yes, an 8 is just as good as a 9 in the eyes of oxbridge. They define an A* as a grade 8/9. I saw this in another discussion on Oxford medicine (linked here: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6177270)
