Commuting and studying optometry

Hi i got an offer to study optometry through clearing but i was wondering whether the commute would be too long. 1 hr bus 20 minute walk (one way)

Since optometry is a heavy course with classes around 4-5 days per week and clinic sessions i was wondering whether i would feel burnt out the end of the week and would i miss out on the uni life.

Since all accommodation is gone i would have to commute

Would love to hear advice from people who have commuted
That's a pretty long commute especially for 4-5 days a week.

I would recommend seeing if you can find other accommodation options such as private student halls, or private rentals in house shares for your first year.

Firstly check your timetable. Classes aren't that many days per week. I'm a third year doing the BOptom course however, you might be correct if the MOptom course is structured differently. Personally we had no more than 3 days per week.

I was commuting 2.5hrs (total 5), 3 days a week, then working 2 days a week at Specsavers that was a 1.5hr (total 3hr) commute.

Achieved a mid 2:1 overall in second year which I would say is decent for the difficulty of the commute, balancing work, gym etc. Your 1hr 20min commute is next to nothing - it's definitely possible. Then again I do get a few fun reactions when I explain my weekly schedule to them. If you believe you can do it you will.
