the start of the end, scarlett's y13 gyg

helloo everyone! i'm going into year 13 next year and this kind of feels like the start of the end of an era, if that makes sense? i've been at the same school for 10 years and it's just insane to me that this will be my last year there!

some stuff about me:
GCSEs: 9999999887
Predicted: 4 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Economics, Computer Science
Applying to: Economics at Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Warwick and Bath
Admissions tests: TMUA for Cambridge, LSE, Warwick
[i may update the uni stuff if i change my mind idk]

While also recording my academic journey here, I also want to record my personal journey. I have a condition called FND (functional neurological disorder) that relapses from time to time, and it can cause me to be temporarily paralysed, have seizures, and just basically have a hard time existing. I'm trying to keep my health on track and I'll probably mention it from time to time on here. As my parents and doctors tell me, health is most important! There's no point going to uni and dropping out because I'm too sick to continue.

Hello, I'm going into year 13 too :wavey: Best of luck for this new year :gthumb:
Thank you to everyone who is following this! Yesterday I finished the third draft of my personal statement (yayyy!) and started coming up with questions for my stakeholders as part of my CS NEA!
Heyyy
Good luck with A Levels and I'll be following your journey xx
Summary of yesterday! I didn't get a huge amount of work done, I've pretty much finished the justifications for interview questions for my CS NEA and I started doing some more revision for the TMUA since I've been slacking but it was mostly a selfcare day yesterday. I had a picnic with a friend and we went on a long walk (15000 steps ). The weather was lovely and we've decided to help motivate each other to study which I'm really happy about! I could feel my health taking a dip and my legs were getting weaker again but yesterday gave me the boost I needed.
I don't know why but I am TERRIFIED by the dentist. I have been since I was young. BUT today I faced my fears and went to my dentist appointment and I am so glad my teeth are ok and there are no cavities!! I kid you not I was sitting in the waiting room with tears in my eyes, like I'm genuinely so scared of the dentist, but it all turned out okay in the end!! This is like a huge weight of my chest because I was meant to have my appointment in April but my regular dentist had no availability that worked for me, then I was meant to have it in early August but I couldn't go because there were riots in my area so it got rescheduled. The constant delaying of my appointment was so stressful. So thankful it's done now!!

Anywayy from an academic standpoint I didn't do a HUGE amount today since I was sitting paralysed with fear over my dentist appointment and I just couldn't seem to focus (yeah, I know, I'm a big baby). I managed to finish my revision of inequalities for the TMUA (long overdue!) and I've started working on functions. I'm planning on starting to do past papers for TMUA next week. I did a few flaws questions for TSA prep and I also managed to complete an interview with one of my stakeholders for my CS NEA which is perfect because now I can get other sections of it done using my stakeholder's feedback! Overall, not a horrible day!

Thank you
I completely forgot to update this yesterday but I got very little work done, just a few TSA questions to do with flaws and weakening/strengthening conclusions.

Don't worry don't forget to take breaks when needed xx
Thank you @azure000 and @Trickia !!
Okayy so I didn't get much done yesterday because I was going through a little bit of a confusion about my uni choices! I emailed my Oxbridge mentor (who is also my fav teacher and I hang out in her office all the time) that I was thinking about Oxford E&M instead of Cambridge Economics and she basically strongly advised against it. She knows me very well and she was saying that management is not entirely my thing and she knows I would thrive in Cambridge's course because it's more mathematical. She also said the course is very similar to UCL, LSE and Warwick so if I'm applying for those and like the course I should probably like Cambridge's course too. I can't lie, I think she's probably right. I think the most attractive thing about Oxford was the TSA because I love revising for it haha, but I kind of want a more quantitative course because I think it keeps a few more doors open in terms of Master degrees. Soo I'm reconsidering my options now.

Cambridge uses the TMUA and so do Imperial, LSE and Warwick but I don't want 4 out of my 5 choices to be relying on the same admissions test bc that stresses me out. I might get rid of Imperial because their course is quite new and maybe doesn't have enough Economics as I want it to. This also makes my personal statement easier since all my choices will just be pure econ. I'm thinking about bringing in Durham Econ & Maths because I really, really like the course content (+ I can submit a separate personal statement which is slightly more mathsy).

Anyway, I don't know, I'm really confused. I'm mainly going to be going through my personal statement today to make a few edits and hopefully get it to the stage where it's a final draft!
