Does Imperial care about all 9s/A*?

I got 99999999887 in my GCSEs. I was quite happy with this but I was talking to some ppl in my school who were accepted into top unis like imperial for mech engineering and most of them got all 9s or all A*s at the lowest. My 7 was in Art. My 8s were in Eng Lit and French. Will this put me at a disadvantage when applying to Imperial compared to other applicants who got all 9s or do they care more about A level predicted grades?

If Imperial insisted on all 9s they wouldn't have many students...

Is this from experience or just word that goes around?

This year only 1,270 students achieved all 9s across the UK.
