Student finance withdrawal

Hi, I have to complete an online registration for my university course, and it has asked for a Student Support Number. Can I use the SSN from a previous application?

Additionally, I was not actually enrolled in the first university, but the application with student finance was approved, and it is now withdrawn.

I have made a new student finance application for this year in April with a different university which is still being processed ,I also have not received an online notification of entitlement letter, I only have the one from the previous application. The previous university didn’t notify student finance about the change of circumstances regarding the withdrawal, which could explain why they are still processing my application. I have completed any further actions that were requested of me.
I contacted student finance about why my application is still processing and they told me they are still waiting for the university to update them about the withdrawal .
I sent an email to the university about this and will try calling them tomorrow since they are not answering .

I’m really worried about what will happen with my current application. Can I still go to university?

Hi there,

You can use the previous Student Support Number that you have as this will never change. When you contacted us did we say that we have not received the Withdrawal from the previous university? When does your course start?

Thanks, Drew

Yes, they have not received the change of circumstance withdrawal . My course starts on the 16th of September.
Hi help me plz 1234,

If you are applying for a different course in the same academic year we will need your previous application to be withdrawn before you can make a new application. Once we have the withdrawal from your previous university this will take around 30 working days to process.

Thanks,
Calum

The previous application was for last year, which states that it has been withdrawn on the application so I made a new one for this years application . I have completed the online registration and online document checks, so I just need to go in for a verification of the documents and to get an ID card at the university. Since it will take 30 days to process, and my course starts in two weeks, can I still get an ID card?

Hi there. What is the current status of your new application has this now been fully approved? Thanks, David
Hi, it’s still processing since April .
Hi help me plz 1234,

I am unable to advise if you can still get an ID card, you will need to discuss this with the university.

Thanks,
Calum

I’ll discuss with the university and inform them that I have to reapply for my application. Student finance canceled my current application today, so they told me to reapply. I didn’t get an email or notification that it’s been canceled, so I guess I might have to wait a few days for it to be officially canceled. There was some miscommunication between the previous university and student finance so I have to reapply .
Hi help me plz 1234,

I would advise following our guidance going forward to make sure you have funding in place.

Thanks,
Calum

Okay, turns out I applied as a continuing student using the same account and not a new student with a new account , that’s why all this confusion has been happening . Thanks I will follow the guidance .

hi also when I called the advisor about cancelling the application they said they will remove the withdrawn and the now cancelled application from the system completely I don’t know if that meant deleted . Does this remove the SSN ?I used the SSN to support the online registration for the uni I applied for this year

Thanks - cancelling the application shouldn't remove the Student Support Number (SSN), rest assured. In most cases you'll continue using the same SSN as before.

So, when you login today does the application still show? And, just to check, is it 'processing' or 'withdrawn'?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi there. No, you SSN won't be deleted you keep the same one throughout your studies.

Referring the applicaiton to be cancelled takes around 5 working days. You would see the status of it update online once this is done. An alternative option would be to apply by post on a PN1 application (for new student's) if you don't want to wait. Thanks, Leah.

The application says processing. I contacted an advisor just now I was told to do a PN1 form . I forgot to ask do I also do a pff2 form ? Pn1 already has a section 12 that includes for financial detail for a tax year . If I do have to do a pff2 form do I send both of them off at the same time ?

Hi there,

Your parents can complete section 12 of your application as this is the PFF2 form. So it can all be done in 1 go.

The form would need to be sent by post, along with any evidence to:
Student Finance England
PO Box 210
Darlington
DL1 9HJ

Applications can take 6-8 weeks for processing. You'd need to take it to the post office for them to send it to us.

Thanks,
Ross
