I'm thinking about going to Uni at 17. I'm a January birthday and if you're not familiar with the Scottish education system people born before february start school when they're 4. So I'm a year younger than all my peers, I'm planning to stay on to S6 but I would still be 17 at the end of S6.
Would it be worth taking a gap year to wait until I'm 18 to go to university? Like is it actually detrimental to social relationships with freshers week and **** (I wouldn't be that interested in drinking when I'm 18 anyways)
I've had adults in my life saying I should take a gap year because of my age. I agree that it could be beneficial for a year of work or something but I fear that I would lose my studying skills after being out of it for a year.
So anybody who took a gap year or went to uni at 17/knew someone who did please leave your experience and/or advice. I don't think it would impact too much but I've had a few people mention it now and I wanted to hear what others had to say.
