Adhd and horror movies

I have adhd and find it pretty hard to fall asleep (case in point: it's currently 3:20am)
Ik alot of people with adhd enjoy watching horror movies, truecrime, etc
But I wanted to know if anyone else with adhd absolutely can't take it, coz I can't.
I watched a horror movie today, and every time I'm faced with darkness, or I close my eyes; I can see the creepy face floating in front of me. And with my ADHD being what it is, it starts changing forms into every single horrifying character I've ever seen that shook me. And it's like I can see it in the gaps of the curtains, in the darkness in the corners, everywhere
Anyone else? Or just me
I cannot stand horror films because they terrify me afterwards with the same thing as you have described, although I don't know if that is because of ADHD.

Me too! Maybe you can try something to help with sleep,magnesium...I try not to watch too much arousing stuff before bedtime, but it's still often hard to fall asleep at night, and I'm always low on energy and tired by the end of the day🥹

LOL same, i don't have adhd but am totally scared crapless after those horror movies... 😱
ive had to pull alnighters after being too scared to sleep 😅 i like thriller type stuff more- not outright scary podcast, just... ones that keep you interested. like the scamanda one
and m night shylaman movies r good cuz they're not that scary
unlike anabella which i watched in spain when half knowing the language which just made me even more on edge. 😱
I have slight ADHD... so I don't know if it counts. It is not to the point of interrupting with my daily tasks or studying but I do have a lot of symptoms of ADHD...
I like horror movies, ones with a plot and not just creepy things. I also have problems with falling asleep (one of those symptoms I was talking about) but it seldom has anything to do with the horror movie I watched.
My sleeping problems are due to my brain thinking about many things at the same time. Like I try to convince myself to fall asleep and trying to imaging something calm, but at the same time my brain is busy with thinking and worrying about daily stuff or something.

I’m pretty sure the terrifying feeling after is not fully from ADHD and just the information from the horror movie stuck in your head.

I recommend not watching horror movies at night - my brother sometimes watches horror analogs and ends up needing me to “guard” the outside of the bathroom in case he ends up in a parallel dimension.
