biomedical engineering advice/work experience

I’m going into year 12 so naturally I’ve began thinking about my application to uni, personal statement and all that. I’m targeting biomedical engineering at imperial, but I will also apply for mechanical engineering there, bioengineering at Cambridge and similar courses at UCL and kcl.
The main point is, im not sure how to get relevant work experience for biomedical engineering - I’ve looked at programmes for the ‘biomed’ side (not a lot for engineering) and some things for finance (I want a career in finance after uni). Does anyone who recently applied for these courses or similar ones have any advice about extracurriculars and work experience? I’m really hoping to stuff my CV this year. Thanks so much

For entry into engineering you should be much more focused on your grades than your CV. Work experience doesn't matter at all (and hardly anywhere actually offers it anyway). Extra curriculars can help a bit if they are particularly relevant, but again not necessary and won't override insufficient grades.

However, don't do engineering at university of you want to go into finance - do something more relevant, where more of your peers will also be looking at finance.
