Help help help! How can I get back on track and save my Spanish grades?!

Hi! I just finished Y10 and are going into Y11 starting from September. Unfortunately due to medical reasons, I had to take a pretty big break from school and could only go to a certain number of lessons each day. At the time, Spanish was my worst subject so I chose to miss like a whole term’s worth of Spanish lessons (really stupid choice on my part pls don’t judge me). So now I’m really behind. I wanna get into medicine and I’m currently acing all my other subjects but I’m really worried that I won’t be able to catch up before summer exams come around. Spanish students - any tips? Are there any websites I can use - Duolingo is useless since the syllabuses aren’t matched up. Is it worth it to watch Spanish movies? Send help please! Any advice is really valuable to me rn. Btw I’m studying on WJEC exam board.

Learning vocab will be a big help for you- I can send you some vocab sets I used but they are aqa and I dont know how much difference that makes! If theyre not of use to you then look on Quizlet, StudySmarter or Anki for some.
Tenses are really important so make some flashcards or regularly do a blooket on these.
Watching movies or listening to music helps to familiarise yourself with the language. Id suggest using Spanish subtitles not English though!
I know you’re against Duolingo as its not matched up but i found it helpful just to consistently practice the language and used it every day throughout year 11
I would also suggest doing some blookets on ‘complex structures’ because those win you big marks!
Hope this helps, have a great day

Can't you just drop Spanish? You don't need it.

maybe ask your teacher what you've missed in class so you know exactly what to catch up on. I find apps like quizlet helpful for practicing vocab and i guess watching spanish movies could help for getting used to listening but i'd try some interactive listening things to check if you really understand it (i don't have examples sorry the website i use is via my college.) If not, trying listening to clips and writing down what you hear in spanish (and checking it's right afterwards) is good for practicing understanding what you hear (also kinda for spelling and picking up new vocab.) Having a few complex grammar structures or phrases that you can get into any bit of writing is useful.

Many students drop one option and use the time to focus on other subjects

Ask - if you've missed a lot your parents can request it. Your school cannot insist you sit the Spanish GCSE
