Help with HSBC Bank Account Application Questions

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to open a student bank account at HSBC, and I’ve run into a couple of questions that I’m not sure how to answer. I live with my sister in London in a rented flat, but the tenancy is under her name. When they asked for my residential status, the options given were:

Owner occupier
Tenant
Living with parent(s)
Halls of residence

Since I live in a rented house with my sister, which option should I select?

Additionally, they’re asking, “When did you move to this address?” and they need to know where I’ve lived for the past three years. How should I answer this, considering the current situation?

Thanks for your help!

I would say "tenant". It's effectively the situation you're in -- and it's clearly none of the others.

You tell them when you moved to the address, and the addresses you've lived at for the last three years. I'm not sure what's confusing about that bit.

This is a very common question for most financial products.
