Hey! Congratulations on the amazing grades 👏🏻
Have you got any tips for English Literature? I'm mostly getting 6s and 7s for it and I'd like to improve. And any advice for Sciences in general would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting mostly good grades in it but I'm still losing marks here and there. Thanks in advance. 😊

hi, i was in your place too. never got above a 7 in my mocks until y10. know your texts really well - make sure you know all the characters and what happens when in the play/novel. if not watch videos or movies and read books. DO LOADS OF ESSAYS - i did so many essays and got it marked by my english teacher- ask them what u did well and what went bad. make a note of it and keep in mind the feedback next time you do essays.please talk to your teacher as much as you can, they can only help you if they know u need help. my teacher gave me so much resources that not all of them got because i asked her personally. A03 is quite important aswell. you should know wider context at the time the play or novella was written. embed them instead of just throwing them in. for language its just lots of practice, make sure you layer your analysis pull put everything you can from a single sentence or a word, this will make ur responses perceptive. do past papers in timed conditions and get them marked. read lots of fictional stories, books and articles to aid you creative and discursive writing. also read critical essays and analysis on the internet done by english graduates and writers. there is a lot of unneccessary stuff, but just take in what u need and make a bullet point out of it. always see if you can extend an analysis by adding words such as. this shows, this could, and comparitive words such as this quote shows this..... but it also can be interpreted like this. this will show the examiner that you are interpreting the text and considering wider analysis. read through others examples and walkthroughs on essays. dont worry so much on unseen poetry, they are marked less strictly but make sure you do all the past unseen questions on timed conditions and get it marked. for poetry, start revising early and memorise quotes. i used physics and maths tutors notes for free a lot for poetry, they had amazing unique analysis, there was some for macbeth and jekyll and jyde too. so memorise those. and be strict on timing, dont spend longer on a question, just move on if u run out of time

for science - i did triple so it was content heavy, i used save my exams and the spec for most of my revision and malmsbury education for practicals(i m not sure about the spelling). follow the spec religiously, know every definition from it. for practicals i made model 6 markers on all of them and went through them occasionally. then use the topic questions from pmt and self mark. only do past papers when u have covered all the topics. for physics know common unit conversions and maths, this will gain u majority of marks. Also dont make extensive and pretty notes, i printed off the spec and added my notes in them which i used throughout my y11, also use post it notes as there is not much space. i did not use a single revision guide, i just used save my exams, they had really good notes i also tutor a few students for science, lemme know if u need help!

Hi, those are great grades well done for doing so well!

I just wanted to ask about your best tips/resources for english language, cus I'm currently stuck on a 6 and I want to know how I could improve.

Thank you
hi, you can find the tips for english language in the above posts.
your language grade largely depends on your level of analysis. instead of telling the most obvious thing about a word or line, say something that not others would say, this will make your answers very unique. layer your analysis for all qs especially for Q4s, keep linking your analysis back to the question and PLAN your Q4s and 5s.

HOME | AQA English Language (mbrogcseenglish.com) - this has some student exemplars, read through them as part of your revision. as told above do all the past papers in timed conditions and get them marked and receive feedback. i used 51243 order for paper 1 and 51342 for paper 2. play around to see which order suits you. don't fall into the trap of pre planning your stories. instead memorise a few basic descriptions that can be put into any topics - like description of an animal, garden, a character. go really depth in your description, for me description was easier and always got higher on it, its likely because i always get more indulged in the plot rather than the methods. make a checklist in your plan and tick them off as you use them. 2 to 3 pages is what AQA expects so don't focus on filling the pages . QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. dont panic keep practising and start early.

For HISTORY - learn the content in full, so basically you should know what subtopics come up in all the 4 topics and general occurrences. So use save my exams, revision guides or school powerpoints to revise them. Then learn your exam techniques, there are loads on the internet - mrclokehistory in YouTube had good techniques and his predictions were quite accurate. Once you are aware how much time to spend on each Q. Plan lots of questions, every possible questions that can come up. I did it with my other friend so he planned some questions and i did some so then we shared it with eachother. also only use past paper questiond for practicing your exam techniques as they are less likely to come again, so instead write out your planned questions and get it marked. dont write out all of your planned questions, just a few of them. however for source utilies past paper questions are the best resource you can get. always talk about everything you can, like language analysis and own knowledge. dont learn loads of facts and knowledge. learn few for every topic. as always start early too. for 16 markers write down a short intro and conclusion for about 3 lines each, and rest of the paragraphs like your 12 marker. many of the questions that came up for our exam were the ones we planned. i did medicine, anglo saxons and cold war and germany. lemme know if you do any of them so ill share any resources i used

Thank you so much  Im doing Germany, Migration in Britain, Spain and Elizabethan England so if there some resources for Germany that would be great
Tips for unseen poetry English literature I'm also doing love and relationships and struggle to compare a poem I may have seen to a poem I've never seen, also the part where you have to remeber a poem from your own knowledge I end up unsure on how to analyse the poem I already know

And then I also need tips for aqa triple science because I feel like the questions were created by the devil himself, why are they so different from the topics we are taught

Vietnam Revision Guide (walton-ac.org.uk)
The RIse of the Nazis Revision Guide (walton-ac.org.uk)
Life in Nazi Germany Revision Guide (walton-ac.org.uk)

all these have concise notes which i used to revise content. hope this helps.

unseen - now this is a question that is marked extremely liberally than every other question on the literature papers. so for me i stole so many ideas from my seen poetry and used them when i analysed unseen poetry. rather than seeing and finding techniques, look for a theme, symbol or a strong message that is being conveyed. keep this as a main driving point and support it with evidences from the poem. for example rather that telling there is juxtaposition which shows the contrasting feelings of love and hate, try and say the poet conveys the contrasting qualities of love and hate, which shows that the poet is feeling........ this is seen as he uses a juxtaposition of ....... furthermore the colour imagery of red and black again reinforces the difference.... . look for colour changing, or choice of word being changed, this shows how the poet feels in the beginning and the end. dont force yourselves to talk about structure. only talk about it if there is something relevant. for 8 marker, two short paragraphs - a glaring difference of methods such as simile vs metaphor, dark imagery vs light etc.. dont worry too much on this 8 marker. for seen poetry, you just need to revise, read and memorise the quotes and written analysis and then paste them in your exam. u dont have to learn all 15 poems by heart, choose 7 poems each from different categories and learn quotes, physics and maths tutor has AMAZING analysis - AQA GCSE English Section B: Love and Relationships Poetry Anthology - PMT (physicsandmathstutor.com) - i used only this. you can also watch glow up your grades videos as she picks up the best quotes and gives extended analysis on them and add this to your pmt analysis. you can also make your own analysis make sure its not vague. and do essays and get them marked to get feedback.
for triple - USE THE SPECIFICATION - print it off and its gonna be like a bible for science. read and learn all definitions this way you dont miss any 1 2 or 3 markers. the mark scheme mostly has the exact lines of the spec. and i used save my exams to revise for science and did ALL of the physics and maths tutors exam questions before attempting past papers. and look where u did bad, revise that topic before doing your next past paper.make model 6 mark answers for all of your practicals, may be exclude the one that came up the previous year its very unlikely but not impossible. they should be short and concise, summarise from save my exams. ask teachers for help and start early. free science lessons is perfect for learning spec content. revise repeatedly the topics u struggle, for me it was things like electromagnetism and ecology until you master it. good luck!!
