I'm going university for the first time in September and wondering if there's anyone to give tips/advice when it comes to first year! I'm going to be living at home whilst studying and have chosen Salford University! Anything helps! Thanks!

It can be quite worrying and daunting considering its a new experience but it's also a journey, so be kind to yourself!
I would say explore the University campus while you're there, try out food places and try to join activity groups or societies to give yourself a real feel for the campus! If there's anything you're interested in, try to enquire and join that so you have time to wind down aside from scheduled lectures and seminars.
It might be scary making friends to begin with, but you'll also meet your people who will make your University life great 😁 Best of luck with everything!

Hello,
Congratulations on getting a place at Salford University. As a graduate of the university myself, I know you are in for a great 3 years.
Let's start with that first year where it all begins.
First tip I would say is do not worry about being worried. Starting off with a bit of a tongue twister of a tip. To simplify it; it is normal to be nervous about going to university. The good news is that everyone starting uni is nervous, whether they admit it or not. It is actually the one thing that everyone going to university already has in common, which is quite ironic...
My second tip would be to say yes to as many opportunities as possible. In your first year try and partake in as many experiences that are offered to you, even a few that are that little bit out of your comfort zone. It is a great time to try new things and grow as an individual.
My final tip I would say is, do not be worried about making mistakes. This one refers a little bit more to the academic side of things. You are going to be being taught in different ways, studying in different ways, and being assessed in different ways. It is ok to make a few mistakes along the way, in the end that is how we grow throughout our time at university. Mistakes are there to be learnt from.
I do hope these three tips help you and I have one last one to finish with. Enjoy every last minute of it 😁. Matt ~ University of Salford Rep
