ipad or laptop?

hi,

Im going on to study economics this year at uni. im hoping to bring my pc with me to accomodation, and ill be moving back home for my 2nd and 3rd year. ive been debating to invest in either a laptop or an ipad (/any tablet) for econ. both have their pros and cons obviously - ive had a look at the course syllabus and see that excel is a partial component of it, which i have access to on my pc which obviously is not portable to lectures lol. since economics has a balance of note taking and maths i was wondering whether the ipad might be better, but im wondering if anyone could share their experience with this. or perhaps a 2 in 1 touchscreen laptop? not sure. any help/advice is much appreciated

Hi @unxmutual

I do not study economics but I have tried using a laptop and an iPad at university this year. Personally, I prefer a laptop as I can type quicker than I can write which is helpful for making notes quickly in lectures. However, I did like being able to draw on an iPad. Maybe an iPad with a keyboard might be an option?

I would recommend looking at your modules and seeing whether your university recommends one over the other. You could potentially wait until you have started the course to decide which one is the best for you.

I hope that helps!

Hi there,

I would say laptop is definitely better, because I hardly imagine how would I approach writing a 10 thousand words coursework on a tablet. In all other cases ipad might be suitable

Take care,
