UCAT dentistry requirements

Hi.

So i did my UCAT today , unfortunately went really bad i got 2330 band 3, does anyone know any university’s that may accept me , i am also part of widening participation if that does anything :frown:

Hey there, so firstly your ucat score including SJT would most likely not be accepted by any uni. Even if you are apart of widening participants, the criteria would only apply to ur academic grade and not the ucat. Nevertheless, there are still some options, for example kings ESDP. Kings ESDP is literally a loop hole to get into dentistry for those who haven't achieved the grade requirements. To qualify for Kings ESDP u don't even need to be from a disadvantage background, you'd just need to have grades higher than or at ABB level and lower than A*AA level. The reason why I call it a loophole is because you don't even need to do a foundation year before starting BDS u go straight into first year dentistry. This is where I explain how Kings ESDP could apply to your situation of a poor ucat score, although kings don't specify this on the entry requirements , I have heard you can get accepted even with a low ucat through kings ESDP. For example I heard from a couple friends that they got interviews for kings ESDP with a ucat score as low as 2350. So you still have some hope, the only issue after that would be ur SJT, some unis look at ur ucat score and SJT separately and some don't consider SJT at all. If you have managed to keep up with all this information up until this point I'd like to give my personal opinion... I think you should defo give it a shot and still apply since the worst thing that can happen is that you'd get rejected. If ur in yr 13, then put all ur time and effort into ur a levels and MAKE SURE U SMASH UR A LEVELS BCS U CAN REDO THE UCAT EVERY YEAR BUT REDOING UR A LEVELS R MUCH HARDER TRUST ME. The fact that you basically have kings ESDP as ur only hope of getting into dentistry this year, I think you should prepare for the worst and maybe plan a gap year and get a whole load of work experience and ucat practice in before reapplying. That may sound harsh but it is reality and once ur done with a levels you'll realise it really isn't the end of the world to take a gap year as a lot of people get into dentistry on their second or third fry anyways.
