Graduate at BAE

Hello, I was curious about having a dual citizenship and working at BAE Systems. Does having a dual citizenship class me as a dual national? Also, does this affect the projects I will be working on as my work is based around engineering? Thanks

From BAE website - "You'll need to be a UK National, either from birth, or naturalised as well as being a permanent UK Resident for the last 5 years. Due to security clearance requirements for this position we are unable to consider dual nationals and non-UK nationals for this particular role."

My security clearance has been approved and I'm a british national, i just have another citizenship so i was curious if this restricts me from working on certain projects and if anyone has experience

I can only speak from the perspective of working in defence for the the UK Government, but the same applies. I'm a sole UK national and can work in any role my qualifications and clearances permit me to. If I held Dual Nationality, a lot of roles would become closed to me, including a lot across Subs, Air, Communications and Weapons platforms that are Sole UK National only. Holding a second nationality is having citizenship with another nation, yes.

You will be fine to work at BAES, but you will likely find, down the line, that some of the more classified projects may be closed to you, where there are UK or UK/US eyes only elements.

As ThatGuyAI said, the following will appear on job ads where you will need sole nationality to be employed.

"You'll need to be a UK National, either from birth, or naturalised as well as being a permanent UK Resident for the last 5 years. Due to security clearance requirements for this position we are unable to consider dual nationals and non-UK nationals for this particular role."

We have a similar spiel in our restricted adverts too. I wouldn't worry though, you still have a huge amount of projects and such to work on, as the work goes beyond just snazzy sensitive programmes.

Again, don't let it bother you, enjoy your new career and congratulations on successfully making the first leap into your new profession. Welcome to engineering my friend.
