Dream job or experience / pay

I didn’t get onto the job I wanted at my dream place to work at. The role was a 12 month internship paying £28k/year. I applied to another job where I’m getting more experience, my pay is over double but the area of work is very different. I also am working as a financial analyst currently but my dream is to work in marketing.

Would it be stupid to try again next year for my dream role, despite the lower pay and worse prospects than what I’m currently doing? I love my job now but it’s tough choosing between head and heart. Money is also a considerable factor for me, so I don’t want to spend years in a niche area of in house marketing just to have my maximum salary be more or less what I’m earning entry level in my current role. Is taking the pay cut stupid? Or should you choose what your passion is over what is a ‘good’ option?
