Career paths with Art, Maths and Business Studies

Hey guys, I was wondering what alternative careers I could go into with Maths, Art and Business A Level. I really want to be an Architect, but I’m worried if it doesn’t work out, I’ll be stuck not knowing what to do. Please help!

P.S. I’m on a waiting list for Economics A level, staying hopeful!

Architecture will require you a degree, but ask for A Levels in any subjects. Only about 2 or 3 (out of like 59 universities) are picky about your A Level subjects.

Whilst you don't need Art to go into a design or art related degree, some of the pickier universities can ask for it.

Maths on the other hand will offer you scope to a wide range of degrees, but it would have been nice if you did Physics on top. With maths + any 2 A Level subjects, you can go into:

Maths and Stats

Computer science and software engineering

Economics and MORSE - and yes, you don't need Economics at A Level to do it at degree level

Finance, financial mathematics, financial engineering, and actuarial science

Biological mathematics

Some radiography degrees

You can then do degrees that ask for 3 A Levels in any subjects:

Anything in business expect for financial mathematics and actuarial science (for obvious reasons)

Law

Anthropology

Archaeology

Sociology and criminology

Most psychology degrees

Some degrees in creative writing and English literature

Dance

Drama and theatre

Nonquantiative economics degrees

Education

Theology

Politics

Philosophy

Linguistics

Agriculture

Some art and design degrees, including architecture

Some geography degrees (usually ones with emphasis on human geography)

Some history degrees

Some nutrition degrees

Film

Game design

Hospitality and events management

Property and urban planning

Journalism

Media studies

Nursing

Paramedic science

Social work

Policing

From the above, the only degrees that would be required for legal purposes in order to go into their respective fields (irrespective of whether you do a degree or degree apprenticeship) and not go into academia include:

Law

Psychology

Education - specifically teaching

Political analysis

Architecture

Nutritionist

Property and urban planning - although you can just work your way up

Nursing

Paramedic science

Social work

Policing - although they would expect you to just sign up for the force after A Levels; if you have a degree, you can become an inspector or constable a lot faster

Since your specific question is specifically about careers, you can go into 600+ different careers with just 3 A Levels in any subjects. I am not going to go through all of them individually, but they generally include:

Administration

Government services

Politics

Social work

Some areas of healthcare

Most areas of business (HR, marketing, accounting, sales)

IT roles

Some areas of construction

Most areas of property

Most areas of beauty and wellbeing

Creative/design and media (if you're good)

Theatre and film (if you're good)

Music (if you're good)

Anything related to writing (if you're good)

Storage

Logisitics

Armed forces and police force (if you pass certain tests, have a clean record, and are of a certain age range)

Some environmental services

Hospitality

Manufacturing

Management (if you have the relevant experience)

Retail

Care work

Travel and tourism

Charity

Entertainment (if you're good)

Translation (if you are fluent in more than one language)

If you decide to go back to college (adult college), then you can do courses that are relevant to the following:

Animal care (other than vet)

Some areas of construction and certain trades

Some areas of beauty and wellbeing

Some areas of engineering

You can go into the following areas with specific professional qualifications (irrespective of what previous qualifications you have):

Accounting

Actuary

Law (CILEx)

Most areas of finance

Delivery and transport (licences)

Sports coaching

What I don't expect you to be able to go into include fields in:

Some areas of healthcare e.g. medicine, dentistry

Academia in a discipline that you can't do a degree in

You're welcome. Just out of interest, have you given any thought to what you want to do as a backup plan?
