Is it silly to only apply for one safety?

I plan to apply to Cambridge, Durham, Bristol and Warwick for law and Exeter for law with business. Is it silly to only apply for one safety (Exeter)? I am concerned I won't get into Exeter, particularly as my personal statement solely focuses on law, and then I wouldn't have a safety. However, I also don't really want to cut any of my other options as I want Warwick as it doesn't look at LNAT and obviously Cambridge is highly challenging to get into, and I also really love Durham and Bristol. My predicted grades are 3 A*s and an EPQ (unsure of my predicted in this yet).

Check with Exeter to see if they actually read PS for Law courses - they may not, in which case the joint-subject application wont matter.

Also - be aware that you can apply to just Cambridge to meet the October deadline, and add any of your your other choices later. One tactic therefore could be to apply to Cambridge and Bristol in October, take your LNAT as early as you can, and see what happens with those two. You can then be more strategic with your other three choices, and add these just before the January deadline. And btw, I'd recommend York, Manchester or Nottingham for Law before Durham.

While naturally I am nervous about not getting into the more competitive courses I applied for, what I meant by my post is that even if I did get an offer from one, if Exeter rejected me and then I achieved lower grades I wouldn't have an insurance option. Is it silly to only apply to one insurance, even if the requirements are several grades lower than my predicted?

If that really worries you then follow the strategy recommended above but add Exeter to your initial choices. You will hopefully know their decision before you submit your final applications and will therefore know whether you need another safety.
