Is this as embarrassing as I’m making it out to be?

So, I asked my school for extra time because I’m autistic and I said this during a meeting with my teachers and my parents and now most of my teachers know that I have autism.

This is so embarrassing.

Do you think they will look down on me now since they probably have never had autistic students before as it is very rare or do you think they have had autistic students before?

I think they’ll be absolutely fine with it! Autism isnt as rare as you might think, and I’d be very surprised if they haven’t come across autistic students before. Also people have extra time for a variety of reasons and they might not even know whats what its for so dont stress 🙂 They absolutely shouldn’t look down on you and you shouldn’t think any less of your abilities either. Extra time just means you need longer to show what you know and get that down on the paper- it doesn’t make you worse than anyone else, just different!

i'd say they have had autistic students before, but even if they hadn't, you shouldn't be embarrassed abt it cos teachers are not supposed to look down on students for that kinda thing. and there's nothing wrong w being autistic

Don’t worry about it! They’ve likely had autistic students before and lots of students need extra time for one reason or another so they shouldn’t think anything of it
