durham matriculation dress code

Im going to durham uni this september and have no idea what to wear to matriculation. My college (hild bede) is non gowned so I cant cover up whatever I choose to wear with a big gown, which is making this so much harder.
I was planning on wearing a black dress with little red flowers on it but wasnt sure if any colour or flowers were allowed???
