The Student Room Group

did my parents lose £100 on their universal credit because I have a summer job

Hi! I'm a full time student at uni and, as I'm home for the summer, I decided to get a part time job to help with uni rent and things.

My dad has just come into my room and accused me of causing £100 to disappear from his universal credit because of my part time job.

is this true?

Its probably because your no longer a dependant (it will be based on age) though im not 100% but i think they will get the child element up to the summer you turn 18 (you might want to check) so likely nothing to do with you having a job

It is possible that you may be bring treated as a non-dependant. You should get advice from Citizens Advice or Turn2Us.

Your part-time job could indeed affect your family's Universal Credit, as income from work may reduce the amount received.
