Retaking year 13

I achieved BBD in maths, statistics and physics respectively. I have an offer for mathematics at UCLAN. However, I am considering retaking my a levels and trying to get into Manchester or Lancaster for 2025 entry. I can either retake my a levels without going to college and pay the standard fee sit the exams at college but not have any lessons and study myself. I would have to study maths and physics myself. Or I could go into college (provided they let me) and get the lessons. But I would have to be studying there full time so I would need to do maths, physics/business in a year + something else like AS further maths or stats again. Another option is just moving on and going to UCLAN and try make the most of it. I know Manchester and Lancaster are a lot better and I would love to go to them. I’ve visited both and I really like them. Also, a student from UCLAN doing maths has said retake. Part of me wants to move on but part of me also doesn’t want to settle for less. Another year at college seems a lot. What would you guys recommend I do?
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.
It Honestly all depends on your capabilities. If you’re 100% sure that you can boost your grades up within a year, and you’re willing to go college/ pay the fees, then 100% go for it. But then again you need to be wise because the fees are extremely expensive to retake. I believe the best option would be to go to college, and retake there. Ultimately it all depends on you, and whether you’re willing to take another year out to retake your a levels, and then apply to Manchester/Lancaster and get where you need to be. Id also recommend to ask yourself, why did you get those grades, and how can you improve by retaking? Best of luck!! You can do this no matter what.
