can i apply for DSA for INSOMNIA

I have struggled a lot with really bad insomnia for a couple of years now, and have seen the GP for it, been prescribed sleep meds and also been referred to a sleep disorder clinic. It is an ongoing thing and it does affect my every day life a lot, however insomnia is not usually classified itself as a mental health issue and usually indicates a different mental health condition (which we haven't found out about yet maybe). I am not sure if this means I am able to apply for DSA under a mental health condition? Please help.

Hi There

We hear that you have struggled a lot with really bad insomnia for the past couple of years now. It is great that you have been able to reach out to your GP and they have been able to support you with this but we understand that living with insomnia is having an impact on your everyday life 🫶

For support with claiming DSA we empower you to reach out to your local Citizens Advice Bureau as they will be able to advise you correctly whether you can make a claim for this allowance and they will then support you with making a claim if you do ✍️

You have done really well to use this space to be honest about how you are feeling. If you are feeling like suicide is an option right now then you can call Hopeline247 on 0800 068 4141 or Text us on 88247 to speak to a trained Suicide Prevention Adviser who will be more than happy to help 💟

What kind of financial support would they be giving me though?

You'd discuss it in a meeting, but things I've read about is stuff like devices if you need help for note taking, or a certain number of taxi rides to uni
