Manchester metropolitan or Salford uni?

Hi, I want to study social work, which both universities offer but I don't know which one to apply to. Which do you reckon would be a better choice Man Met or salford. Thanks.

Hi there,

Hope you're well 🙂

I would definitely advise you to compare the pros and cons of each University to help make your decision. So, the campus vibes of each, the modules taught, support available at the Universities, travel to the University from your home, how Placements are laid out in each University etc.

Hope that can help you to make a good decision 🙂

Hi!

I back what @BradfordRep says - we have upcoming open days where you'll have the chance to meet tutors, chat to current students and tour the campus so you can get a feel for Man Met to see if it's the place for you. I also recommend having a look on the BA (Hons) Social Work course page to look at the modules and entry requirements to check that they're suitable for you.

If you've got any questions about the course, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi

This is a great question. I would agree with all the excellent advice already given, it is down to which is the best course and which university is best for you.

It is worth considering how you learn best and looking at the course pages to see how they're taught, see the section entitled Course Details on our website (I have assumed you were considering the undergraduate course, but if not you can search for the Masters using the search bar):

https://www.salford.ac.uk/courses/undergraduate/social-work

It's also worth considering whether you'd rather be location-wise. This can be even more important if you're moving to the area because you might want to consider if you'd prefer to be based in the city centre, somewhere more suburban, somewhere surrounded by countryside etc. When you will be spending a minimum of three years (excluding time on placements) it is important you feel at home where you're studying.

I'd highly recommend attending an Open Day if you can, we offer a a travel bursary after attending our open day, to help cover the costs of attending our Open day. This is because we appreciate that if you're travelling to a few open days it soon adds up.

Open Days are a fantastic opportunity to:

💫 Meet academic staff and discover about your chosen course.
💫 Meet fellow students and get an insight into student life.
💫 Enjoy a campus tour.
💫 Explore the accommodation options.
💫 Speak to the student support services.

Here's to our next Open Days:

I hope that helps. Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.

Lucy 🙂
