Is it haram for reverts to not wear hijab?

I am 21F. I used to be a Christian and converted to Islam a few months ago, so I am a revert and have said my Shahada. I still live with my family, but they don’t know that I am now Muslim. I was gifted a prayer mat, Quran and other things by my really supportive Muslim friends and their families. I hide these as well as the fact that I pray. I’ve always worn modestly but I want to start wearing the hijab as I believe that’s the right thing and that I am sinning by not doing so, I also want to be rewarded. But I’m scared that my family will find out and they won’t accept me. My mother is a very devout Christian and I’d feel like I’m betraying her as she prays for me and ushers me to pray with her but I don’t know if it’s right. I see so many hijabis rocking abayas and their hijabs and they look so beautiful but I feel so scared. I’m too young to lose my family and I feel like the only way I can start wearing it is if I move out, get married or become financially independent. Can anyone give me some advice? Is it haram for me to continue not wearing the hijab? I know it’s my choice but I want to but feel like I can’t.

here are some advice
It’s not haram to take your time with the hijab; everyone’s journey is different. If you’re considering marriage, remember that a Muslim woman cannot marry a Christian man. Balancing faith and family can be challenging, so take gradual steps. You don’t need to rush into wearing the hijab until you feel ready and safe. Find a supportive community and prepare for conversations with your family when you’re ready. Your safety and well-being are important.
i wish u luck
and congrats in ur conversion and hope ur happy with ur choice

Thank you so much for this. I am definitely happy with my choice and way of life. I am very aware that I cannot marry a Christian man, and have been from the start. The hijab is just my only concern. But thank you so much for your support.
