How hard is chemistry

I need chem for forensics but wondering if I can see if I can do chem alevel as rn I haven’t chosen that as a option I only got a 6 in chemistry and struggled GCSE’s but also didn’t revise to much any got any opinion
My current year 12 options are applied psychology alevel biology and criminology

(What uni course that relate to detective and csi are there that may be less chem related or any)

Off the top of my head criminology or criminal forensic psychology could be good options for fields to look into. You’re correct that to keep options open for forensics degrees you’d ideally want to be doing chemistry but its a rough subject i am told and you might be better off taking other subjects if you’re strengths align more closely with those. There are still options at uni to study something in forensics with a level biology but it’s limited. I would suggest researching some degrees in this field and looking at some career profiles to see what interests you and aligns with your strengths. Best of luck

Criminology is a branch of sociology which focuses on the causes of crime, behaviour of criminals etc. Basically i would describe it as studying criminals and crime through the lens of sociology.
Happy to try to help if you need any advice on picking your subjects
Hi!

I did A level chemistry and enjoyed it very much, about 1/3 of the whole spec is memorisation, so if you have a good memory that won’t be a problem. The only hard part is getting above 80% consistently as that’s usually where a B becomes an A, so a lot of further reading on chemistry may help you with the sometimes random questions you might get on elements or practicals.

If I was in your position I would probably stick with psych to be honest but if you're set on forensics then chem is your best option.

An 8 via AQA. That may seem like a big difference but it’s all honestly your attitude to learning. A level chemistry contains completely different specifications compared to GCSE, you may as well forget all of it (apart from the mass=mr x mol ofc)

I got a 7 and did A level chemistry. It was good, as long as you know how to do the basics e.g balance equations and rearrange equations it’s fine. Also if you go over the topics you don’t understand before and after the lessons.

Chemistry is pretty much the same regardless of the exam board tbh, as long as you know it (assuming you’ve studied and prepared) you’ll be fine

The only hard part Id say is the essay part of the papers but your teachers will be helping you on how to answer those best, no doubt.
