lae vs brampton manor academy

hey guys! i wanted to ask whether london academy of excellence stratford or bma was a better pick? i want to study cs at uni, and at bma id take computer science, maths, further maths and physics, but at lae i'd take economics, maths, further maths and physics. bma does the maths a level in year 12 which is a plus, but most of my friends are going lae and lae does start later and i can therefore sleep more. However, brampton finishes earlier and is of course well known for their results. LAE does seem to have much more relaxed uniform rules, and is better situated. I have heard some stories about brampton (no jumpers allowed, cold rooms, etc), but I don't know which to choose between the two..
Any advice??

I hope you're a new year 11 otherwise it'd be too late to ask...
While I did end up enrolling into Brampton, I'd say LAE stratford's a better pick. From what I've seen LAE is much more "relaxed" and offers some nice extracurriculars and instrumental lessons. At Brampton most clubs end up being academic, but you can still make friends.
Also, Stratford is much more fun of an area that wherever Brampton is (i.e. London's backrooms).
However LAE fills up VERY fast, so you'd have to run to the branch during results day for enrollment (explaining why I ended up not going there). Brampton on the other hand will give you a fixed enrollment time most possibly on the 23rd, so it can serve as a sort of back-up choice if you fail to enroll into LAE.

i've enrolled in both loll, so im in a bit of a weird situation. would you say bma gives support for the MAT/TMUA? are people friendly?? from the taster days i found it was lae that had a more welcoming atmosphere [didn't make a single friend at bma lol......]

Their site says they offer support for any sort of admission test, MAT included.
I don't know about the friendliness but brampton gives off a sort of oppressive aura to me... I guess I'll have to see.

Just had my first day at Brampton. The students are actually kinda talkative. Lessons from tomorrow.
Just as the previous person asked: where did you end up going?

seven 9s (including combined science and maths), two 8s, one 7 (lang). It's definitely doable

Hii I'm in Year 11 and am trying to get an understanding of the application processes of sixth forms. May I ask what you meant by 'run to the branch?' do you need to physically go to the school you're applying to (I wanna apply to NCS, BMA and LAES) on Results day or can you send your results online and still get into the school? Any information would be SO greatly appreciated

Okay so when I applied...
For LAE, they almost immediately invited me at 2pm on results day to get enrolled. That's what I mean by "run to the branch". Of course it really depends on whether or not you get invited, you have to send your results online first. But you won't get in unless you physically go there and enroll.
Brampton and NCS had next day enrollments, and you will receive an email telling you when to come the previous day - so I don't think you have to worry about those.

Also I was reading this and just noticed... You only have one subject combination possible. Quoting bma's admission page: "You must study A Level Maths, Further Maths and Physics alongside Computer Science". So, chemistry is probably not doable if you want to do cs too.

I just realised that thanks 😭 but it was more meant for LAE and NCS but now I don’t really want to do chemistry but economics.

Thank you so much for answering my question ❤️ So does that mean I will only be asked to enrol in person if my grades are good enough and if I actually physically go there and enrol, I 100% have a place at the school? Also, (sorry for asking so many questions lol) I currently live like a few hours away from London so if I get in I will need to move before September, do you think they will let me enrol even if I currently live far away? Or would I need to have an address in London before the enrolment day? Im sorry for asking so many questions again and good luck with your A levels!!

Yes, if you successfully enroll you have a place in the school.
Idk about the London address thing, but they prioritise pupils from newham. Also, if you live outside London, there's a high possibility many other people will enroll before you... and if you do, then it's joever. On results day I wasn't able to enroll despite going to LAE since places filled up fast.

I will be honest Brampton mainly cares about your grades and the better the average the better. Also just some advice Brampton is very stressful and especially if you choose further and physics just giving heads up and currently doing maths, fm, physics and econ. And if you want to go to Brampton, "MAKE SURE!!!" you are really good at managing your time or else you will suffer a lot.
