I will be honest Brampton mainly cares about your grades and the better the average the better. Also just some advice Brampton is very stressful and especially if you choose further and physics just giving heads up and currently doing maths, fm, physics and econ. And if you want to go to Brampton, "MAKE SURE!!!" you are really good at managing your time or else you will suffer a lot.

Thank u so much guys😭

Reply 22

That "managing time" thing is extremely real. I often use all my study periods to get my maths homework done (esp. since I do further) and even then there are times when I have to continue my homework at home. This barely leaves any time for revision (after the procastination tax).
Oops, I realised this thread is 3 weeks old.

Yes, if you successfully enroll you have a place in the school.
Idk about the London address thing, but they prioritise pupils from newham. Also, if you live outside London, there's a high possibility many other people will enroll before you... and if you do, then it's joever. On results day I wasn't able to enroll despite going to LAE since places filled up fast.

hey so on results day, do i send my results to them and after that they invite me to enroll?
or do i go there as soon as i get my results?
if both is possible which one wld u recommend as someone who rlly wants to go there?

With great respect, I forgot about this thread.
I currently go to Brampton and the workload is quite intense, so make of that as you will. There is not a lot near the school compared to LAE which is in the heart of Stratford - but atleast we don't do PE. Hhahahahahhahaa.
For Brampton, you get invited; it is a next day invitation and you are not allowed to go before that.
For LAE, you also get invited, but it can be in the same day. Indeed I was invited around 2pm on results day but I was too late.
I'd say, if you live not that far away - stay in the vicinity of LAE, especially if your results are good. I only had NCS and Brampton as my other options which were both next-day so I could also afford to go to LAE. However, if there are a lot of enrollment clashes with other sixth forms at the same day and you believe getting into LAE will be extremely difficult - and if you do not have any sort of back up choice like your old school's sixth form - then you might want to consider whether or not the risk of missing other enrollments is worth it.

I heard of certain people who enrolled in multiple sixth forms but ended up sticking with only one, and that is definitely an option you can choose.

thank you so much
i actually live in north west london and i don’t rlly see myself going further out of stratford so i don’t think i’m going to apply anywhere else other than lae.
i visited the skl in the open evening and fell in love with it. it doesn’t compare to the skls in north.
i think i want to do medicine so the mdv programme they have looks rlly good and will help me a lot if i get in
what wld u say in terms of grades that wld give me the best chances of getting in to study bio chem maths and economics.

definitely 9s in both maths and sciences (whether you do triple or combined), it's quite competitive. Then probably have a good overall average grade. My average was 8.6, but I reckon if you have anything around 8 (again, with a 9 in maths/sciences and minimum a 7 in english lang) you should be set.

do you mean for the grades you get in mocks or in the real gcse? if u mean mocks do u think i still have a chance if I got 8s in maths and biochem and a 9 in physics

I mean in the real GCSEs lol. If you got around 8s in the mocks your predicted grades are probably going to be 9s, so you should be okay.

hey!
congrats on getting into brampton!! i just wanted to ask about the application process for brampton and lae. i'm aware that ncs does require a personal statement, but do lae and brampton also require one? i was under the impression that they didnt as i've looked through the websites quite thoroughly, but havent found any mention of it and it's not on the application form for lae. i'm hoping to go to lae as it's quite a lot closer than brampton. also, are the interviews/guidance meetings stressful? i've done a proper interview before and it sounds alright based off of what lae have said in their admissions policy, but i just wanted to check. lastly, do you have any tips on maximising your chances of actually enrolling at lae both in general and on enrolment day? for example, as you suggested, hanging around the vicinity of lae until you get an invitation to enrol.

thank you so so much!!! im sorry if i asked too many questions

Nope, LAE and Brampton don't need a personal statement. I think personal statements are stupid anyway for this level.
I only did an online interview with Brampton, and it wasn't stressful - and this is coming from someone with anxiety. I don't really remember what was asked, but probably keep in mind what you'll study in uni and what clubs you want to do and answer sincerely. It's a short interview, mine was with Ms Begum.
For LAE I don't have any more tips aside from what I said. But when I entered the building, probably try to sit in the front row of seats if you are able to (unless instructed otherwise) as those people were selected first. And it goes without saying you should focus on your GCSEs first

When you enter the branch they may instruct you to take a seat near the entrance, I think there are like 3 rows of seats where you wait. Staff will be on their laptops in front of the front seats doing enrollments online and calling students forward. They mostly choose systematically, for example those in the front row are chosen first.
