EPQ

Hi guys. My school starts EPQ classes in Year 13. Most schools have finished their EPQ in year 12, would you recommend me to do an EPQ in this situation? Is it actually worth it?

Hi, I started my epq last february / march time and im continuing it into year 13. Id say it will probably be fine if its done before exams, but if you begin in yr13 you'll have to keep in mind it will be alongside your a level exams too - could get hectic.

Okay thanks so much for the advice! Do you think an EPQ is worth the time and effort? I’m very conflicted on if I should do it or not.

honestly, i think it depends on the person, what they are looking to do in future and their extra-curriculars. I think it has been worth my time so far, because of college my hobbies have turned into studying and flashcards which means the interests i have get pushed to the side. EPQ lets me have an outlet to talk about and research these things again that i enjoy - as well as get me a qualification. Now, i don't know where your looking to study after college but some universities will give lower entry requirements if you have a good epq grade e.g university of bath so that's worth looking into if there's somewhere you want to go. Also, epq will build your personal statement nicely especially if you feel you don't have enough to talk about. one of my reasons for doing it was experience with research for psychology, so you could base your epq around your future degree which will give you a better standing than other uni applicants since it shows interest and knowledge. i cant really tell you whether you should or shouldn't for definite - but consider your a-level workload, time-management skills, other responsibilities. if your really struggling, i'd recommend talking to the progress teacher or your tutor about it.
