reya’s year 10 gyg ✮⋆˙

hey, welcome to my year 10 gyg!

Ik people mostly start one in year 11, but I think it's cute, and might stop me from procrastinating (to be honest I think I’m going to end up procrastinating to post here loll).

my gcse subjects + how I feel about them as of now
edexcel maths higher (sob)
aqa physics higher (good!)
aqa chemistry higher (bleh)
aqa biology higher (yaa)
aqa english language (alrr)
aqa english literature (shakespeare is my greatest nemesis)
aqa spanish higher (no me comprendo)
edexcel a gegraphy (boringg)
edexcel business (no opinion)
aqa design & technology (I’m scared.)

my plan
to put it shortly, the bare minimum I am expecting (on weekdays) is attempting exam questions. that’s if I’m completely confident in everything I learnt and I don’t have time to make any notes (I don’t really make notes in class + I thought my year 11 self would be thankful. over the weekends, I’m not gonna do much - maybe revisit notes from the past week, look at what’s coming up next etc.
oh, and in the mornings, I also want to do some daily maths and SPaG practice + duolingo. anyways, I could go on and on about how I’m going plan my study seshes and what tools and techniques I’m going to use, but I’m quite the yapper so I kinda have to stop myself here .

extracurriculars
to be honest all I’m really doing rn is taekwondo :frown: but I’m also learning about e-commerce (i’m opening a shopify business sometime in september maybe, we’ll see how well that goes). I’ve been looking into some other stuff, like work experience - barclays offers online work experience, which I’m starting as soon as I get time - and ALSO there is this young entrepreneurship summer programme called leangap which I REALLY want to do (I’m just gonna ignore the fact that it’s just over £5000). you can probably tell that I’m interested in the finance/ entrepreneurship sector .

anyways, that’s it for now. as I said, I could literally write a BOOK about stuff like my future goals, my hobbies etc. but I’ll spare you the details loll. once school starts, I’ll try to update you guys as much as possible + I would absolutely LOVE to hear about your journeys too

take care xx

Oooh wow this is so detailed ... !!! By the way where do you find all the summer programmes and work experience, they seem really interesting. I wanted to go to medicfest because I saw it advertised then realised that it was up to 12 years old -such a shame 😢. Bye for now x
Ps : possibly will post my journey id I have time lol 😆

Hey, i just finished my gcses and took edexcel maths higher, aqa sciences, and aqa DT. You are right to be scared about DT lol, you need to keep on top of the NEA and not leave stuff to the last minute to figure out. I got a mediocre grade that could have been solved if i put more effort into the project from the start and did not leave gaps in my work. It's good that you're doing exam questions because that was the most important reason i got a 9 in maths. Use online resources like Cognito for sciences if you're unsure of what is happening (Electrolysis is a complete mess of a topic imo). Shakespeare WILL be your greatest nemesis, i hated studying Romeo and Juliet but websites like myshakespeare.com can really help you with annotations. Good luck on your GCSE journey!
I’m doing AQA English lit lang triple science and Spanish and we started a transition unit at the end of year 9
have you started poems or the books we’ve finished inspec calls and I actually like it
also scared for triple science I want to go into law but honestly aiming for 8s and 9s in everything ( fingers crossed for mostly 9s)
full list of what I do
AQA maths higher
AQA English lit
AQA English language
AQA Spanish
AQA as Level in sociology
AQA physics chem and bio
AQA pe
AQA history was

Heyy!! Bro we are acc so similar😭😭I’m going into yr 10 and I do taekwondo!!! Ur study thing is alr… but I rlly recommend learning the content first before starting exam questions as u will be confused. I’d u don’t want. To revise that way at home I suggest rlly paying attention in ur class and ask ur teacher questions if ur confused!! However ur Flashcards thing is rlly good!!! Active recall is honestly the best thing. Make sure to go through them everyday and if u have siblings ask them to test u!! I would love to be friends if u want Ofc🫶

for the summer programme i was watching a random video by annie long i think, it was sm to do with making money as a teenager and it was all good but then she mentioned leangap and i was like THINGS LIKE THAT EXIST? i will literally do anything to go loll it sounds so funn!!
for work experience i kinda had a general idea of my IDEAL work experience (in a bank), so i researched a bit about them and found like the opening and closing dates for applications BUT barclays have free online ones - if you go to springpod you can find a bunch of online courses, even in medicine if you’re interested

we read romeo and juliet, animal farm, a bit of mice of men in year 8 but NONE of them are our set books 😭😭
lawww oooh our school had a mock trials team idk if your school has one in year 9??

tbh thats what i try to do in class instead of writing notes but i have a feeling that its not gonna work this year bc theres gonna be so much contentt but at the end of the day what i want to be the bare minimum is like a couple of questions
yess honestly my memory is HORRIBLE - i much prefer conceptual subjects like physics - but flashcards do help a lott
yes ofc i would love to be friends <3
