Difference between Mathematics G100 and L110?

Hi,

I am applying to study maths in 2025, applying to Cambridge, Durham, Bath, St Andrews and Bristol.

However I am confused about the course code specifically for Bath - for the other 4 (and other unis I've looked at) the course code is G100, but for Bath it seems to be L110? Is the Bath course particularly different than the course at all the other unis?

Thank you!

I have the exact same question as I'm in your situation. Have you found an answer??
Hey folks,

Why don't you try asking this question to our admissions team ([email protected]) - I am sure there is a logical explanation, but they'll be the best source of advice here!

Hope that helps,

Afraid not, sorry. I emailed Bath admissions and this is what they said:

Each course is designated a different course code to signify not only the course but each variant of a course. These different course codes distinguish between placement years or length of course for example. For our Mathematical Science courses, they are characterised as L110 onwards. L110 is designated to our Mathematics (3 year course).

I've applied to Bath anyway, and if I end up genuinely considering it I suppose I'll have to do more research.

Hello again,

This is not something I'd worry about if I were you. It could be that Bath simply use a different taxonomy for naming courses to other unis. What really matters is the modules and structure, and if it and the uni itself feels right for you compared to other unis you're interested in, and you're the best judge of that 🙂 I don't think you should be worried at all about what its called.

Wishing you luck!

Course codes are meaningless. You need to look at the actual module content.

Identical course codes do not mean similar courses, (and vice versa).
