Hii! I’m planning to self teach myself bio and chem but most universities for medicine require predicted grades. So where will I be able to get those from. Any help would be appreciated ☺️

Most students who take A levels as a private candidate (as you're planning to do) are actually re-taking those A levels, and can therefore use their previous school / college to provide predicted grades, or can rely upon their previous grades to provide a pseudo-prediction (in lieu of an actual prediction, universities will often assume a retake grade being one higher than the original).

If you won't be retaking then, then neither of those options are open to you, and the only way to get a prediction would be to hire a tutor and have them provide the prediction.

One other thing to consider is the practical endorsement. This is almost like an "annotation" to the A level grade to confirm that you're competent at practicals / lab work. Many universities will expect students to have this endorsement. So check with any universities to which you might be applying what their policy is. They might relax the policy for private candidates.

If you do need the practical endorsement, then you'll need to ensure that this is something the exam centre you use to sit the exams can arrange for you. Some, but not all, will be happy to do so. For a fee.

If your exam centre have the facility for you to do the practicals there, then yes. Have you checked with them?

That just leaves you original issue - getting predicted grades. For that, the only solution I know of it to hire a tutor.

Hi. I am a private A level candidate also doing chem, bio and psychology. Who are you doing your exams with? I am with learn direct and got my predicted grades with them and have my exams booked for next summer. Another way to get predicted grades is the website tutors and futures they can provide them.

To be honest the notes for biology in learn direct are so out of date and have nothing to do with the spec. I use tailored tutors to study they’re amazing! Are you taking your exams in 2025? And what course are you applying for uni?

I decided to do it with Open study college ☺️
