Resitting A level Exams

Hi, i just bombed my papers this year achieving way less than what i expected. Rather than going through clearing i decided to resit my exams.
However, the thing is that i can't find an private exam centre that does not charge extortionate amounts, and most of the colleges near me have informed me they do not take in external students. I was wondering if anyone has been in this dilemma and what they did?

I've heard from a few friends at my school that Mander Portman Woodward (MPW) is a good school for resits. However it is independent and there is a fee so you might want to check the website and/ or ask if they have any scholarships or means tested bursaries available
