Biomedical science application process

Hi am a year 12 student going to year 13 and I wanted to study medicine but then I want to do biomed first and I was wondering if there is any test that I need to take as a 2025 entry such as the ucat and I have been searching but people are just giving me different answers so I just wanted to know.

You definitely don't need to do any entrance exam for biomed

Hey. I'm starting biomedicine course in September. I applied for medicine originally but was unsuccessful so I fell back on my 5th choice (biomedicine).
From my research earlier this year, I've concluded that:

1.

Some universities offer a transfer from biomedicine to medicine course (after the first trimester) if you meet a certain criteria (good assessment grades and attendance). So that can be one option for you.

2.

Another option is to complete your 1st undergraduate year in biomedicine and then apply to medicine (this requires UCAT or BMAT test depending on the university requirements).

3.

Or you can complete the whole biomedicine undergraduate course and then apply for a graduate course for medicine.

4.

Or you can take a gap year to do volunteering or gain lab experience to boost medicine application.

Key things to know:
You must complete UCAT/BMAT test the year you are applying for a medicine course
It is not required to complete UCAT/BMAT if you are applying for Biomedicine
Application deadline for Medicine is in October while Biomedicine is in January.
Sitting the UCAT/BMAT costs money (So does submitting a UCAS application) so you'll end up paying about £100 pounds just to apply for medicine (which is a very competitive field)

Any questions, let me know

So does that mean I only need to submit my personal statement

I used the same medicine personal statement for Biomedicine.
Good things to mention:
Your passion to help those in need and how you enjoyed your a level studies.
Highlight your practical skills as that overlaps both fields
Remember that a personal statement is allowing you to express yourself.
Go into detail about extra curriculars, volunteering, work experience, part time jobs. Why you want to do the course.
What makes you a great addition to the University community
Mention EPQ or any other projects your have worked on (aim for one individual and one group one to show your ability to work well with others)
