How to cancel student finance if I'm taking a gap year?

My application has been approved but not fully confirmed yet, and after results day I contacted my uni to ask for permission to take a gap year. I only set up the account and application in case they rejected my deferral request and I'd need the money for this year. Since they approved my request, I was wondering if there's any way to just cancel my application online myself, since the phone waits are over half an hour and they apparently just keep hanging up on people.
