Confusing reading list.

Hi guys, I received my personalised welcome page invite from MMU. There is a massive reading list menu that I am confused about. Is the reading list everything I will be reading for the whole year or am I supposed to read it before uni starts? On my welcome page it also says the reading list will be emailed to me 2 weeks before my course begins? I'm so confused as to what the reading list I'm supposed to be waiting for is and the one I already have on the welcome page! The one on my welcome page has a list of books that say required for purchase, should I buy these now or can I wait until uni starts and I have my matinance loan?
Hi,

The reading list is typically through the duration of your studies. I would recommend finding second hand books rather than paying full price, they're the same but might be a little worn. Some of the reading literature can be found in the Library on campus, so double check before spending money you don't really need to. Your course will typically start close to the end of September, so it should give you time to email tutors and see what your library has to offer before purchasing books and should help clarifying any questions you might have!

Good luck with your studies!

Hi,

My reading lists have normally been ordered by week, in which ones I should be reading in preparation for that week. It also had a note by each text, whether the reading was essential (must read for this week) or further (optional but is beneficial).

Most readings should be available either via the university's online library or google scholar. You shouldn't need to purchase these texts. I would definitely recommend you wait until the reading list is emailed to you, before you go and buy anything. You could also email your lecturers about this, if you want to be extra prepared before the semester starts.

Hi

I would contact your program leader for clarification on this, just so that you are sure that you are doing the right thing.

I also agree with the other comments on this thread, I think that it is entirely up to you if you wish to purchase your books, then you can although I would always look on sites like eBay and other similar sites for second-hand books as they can usually be found considerably cheaper.

I hope this helps,
