If you used Clearing in 2024, how did you find it?

Adding additional children to childcare grant

Can anyone help I’m getting no where!

When I completed my student finance application I added all details of my children and provided the relevant evidence. When I applied for the childcare grant I only thought I would need it for two children but after getting my timetable I realised I would need to use afterschool club for my two older children. After going on online chat with SFEngland I was told I could do this online which I did but when checking with the childcare grant payment service it still has the two children only. I’ve called student finance and the person I spoke to was really unhelpful and told me I’d have to complete a chance of circumstance form to add the children! I’ve already provided all details when I applied back In March and when I go through the online process it even states their names and do you want to add them. I’m literally loosing the will to live any help is appreciated!

Hi Beckie,

If you did not apply for the Childcare Grant for the older children then you would need to complete a Grants for Dependents form to get them added to your account. Did you provide all birth certificates for all your children and your Tax Credit Award Notice/Child Benefit Letter or Universal Credit statement?

I provided all information back in march birth certs, tax credits award notices and child benefit proof. I’m really annoyed by all this I was told to do it online when I did the live chat, and wait for it to be processed which I did in July, now it’s not going to be sorted for when I start university 😡

Hi Beckie,

To add children to your application you would need to complete the Grants for Dependents form for the children that are not on your application. You can find the form from the link below and it can be uploaded from your online account.
