Does the uni of reading accept EPQ?

Trying to apply to Chemistry with a foundation year and was wondering if the university of reading accept students who take EPQ alongside their other A Levels/BTECs.

says that I need DDD with chem or CCD but doesn’t specify anything about EPQ.
For 2025 entry it says:

"Extended Project Qualification

"In recognition of the excellent preparation that the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) provides to students for University study, we can now include achievement in the EPQ as part of a formal offer."

I agree there's nothing about it on the 2024 page. Give them a ring and ask.
Why are you taking an EPQ. With very low grade expectations, dropping that and focussing on your A levels might actually get you three decent grades.

Hi there!

It is great to hear that your're considering applying to Reading to study Chemistry with a Foundation Year! 🙂

Yes, Reading considers the EPQ alongside other A levels or BTECS when applying to a course. This may not bring down the entry requirements (as this is course dependent) but they will take everything into account when reviewing your application. For example, having an EPQ can be a great advantage as it provides you with a set of skills which are required at University level study. Some departments may make a slightly reduced offer if you have a certain EPQ grade, this is worth reaching out to our admissions team to find out if this applies to your course. Contact details for admissions can be found here.

Good luck with your application! If you have any more questions or need help with the process, feel free to ask! 🙂

All the best,
Millie 🙂
