Restarting year 12

I know I know, it’s a very short period to write about this.

Im planning on restarting year 12 as I would originally be in year 13 this year however the a levels and btecs I chose in year 12 hardly correlate with what I want to do in the future now that I’m certain of what I want to do.

Is there any drawbacks to restarting year 12 apart from being 1 year behind all my friends?

If not then, I have nothing to worry about right?

I did this don’t worry it’s the best thing I could’ve ever done myself, the year extra behind allowed me to really know what I wanted to do such as what degree and uni to go to, what to aim for, as I had absolutely no clue before. Socially, it wasn’t ideal because most of the kids were already friends with their lot from school, but if you have friends outside of college / in other years then it’s no big deal. It allowed me to really focus on my studies and get where I wanted to go! If you have any more questions i’m happy to answer as i’ve just now finished my A Levels and was in the exact same boat as you :smile:

I've seen some other posts about people who are also restarting year 12 worrying about having their uni chances effected. Will I still receive the full amount of ucas points at the end of year 13 despite restarting year 12 instead of a reduced amount for example getting 3 B's equalling to 120 ucas points normally? (stupid question I know I'm just thinking of the worst case scenario)

Yes as long as you still sit A Levels at the end of year 13 and not AS Levels, I got BBC and still got into a decent university so don’t stress, If i didn’t redo year 12 (doing 3 years in college total) I would’ve never achieved the grades I did as I was getting D’s E’s and U’s beforehand.
