The Student Room Group

Options for A-levels

I have 3 main groups of a-levels that I can pick but I don’t know what to pick.

1) Film studies, History and English Language.
2) Film Studies, History and IT.
3) Computer science, History and Maths.

I enjoyed Computer science while in GCSEs and I originally wanted to do in university, but when now I want to do film studies. I know Computer science is probably the better option but I don’t know what to pick. Can I have some recommendations please?
The third option is strongest for applying to computer science, however if you dont want to do that at uni anymore it more comes down to which subjects interest you the most. Look up the specs for each course (make sure to get the right exam boards!) and see which ones interest you the most. Also look at how its assessed- skim read some past papers and markschemes and look at any coursework. Also watch some videos on each subject on YouTube, ones of students discussing their experiences with each subject and see if you can relate to anything they’re saying that might make you enjoy the subject, be good at the subject, dislike the subject or struggle with it at a level. Hope this helps and happy to try to answer any more questions if you have them. Have a great day
