Engineering without Maths A Level

Does anyone know what routes into engineering are available without Maths. I'm doing physics, DT and Computer Science which I thought would be a good mix - but apparently not, everyone wants mandatory Maths. Or which other uni courses are good for this combo of A levels?

I think there must be some but you are limiting yourself by not doing maths as high level engineering degrees are effectively applied maths degrees.

Look at foundation years and try to find ones that you're eligible for.

I’m not sure you can do engineering with just A - Level physics, have you considered taking a gap year to sit Maths privately?

By the way, some universities will take Physics OR Maths (either one) however, you will need an extra science such as Chemistry or Biology.

I'm taking A-level physics, biology and statistics but i want to do engineering do know which uni's take physics with an extra science like you said?

This was quite a while ago but University of Aberdeen lets you do their Chemical Engineering course with Chemistry + Physics OR Maths. I’m not really sure about anything related to Bio though.

What is a level statistics? Do u do further statistics in that a level?

i don't know what further statistics is but this is the overview of the course:u:sing and understanding data is becoming increasingly important in many areas of study and employment. Understanding of statistics is a crucial skill, and this A Level aims to give students the tools needed to help them prepare for higher education and the workplace. Statistics might appeal to students wishing to pursue the study of a numerate post-16 subject within the Science and Social Sciences. It sits well with subjects such as A level Maths, Biology, Psychology, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Business Studies and Economics. It is also an ideal third A level for aspiring medical students. The emphasis is on using and applying statistics in real world situations. It will also appeal to students who enjoyed the statistics and probability components of GCSE Maths but found the algebra demanding.

Hi,

My name is Christian and I am a recent graduate engineer at Swansea University.
Most universities (like Swansea) will ask for a A-levels in maths and/or Physics depending which engineering degree you apply for.

If you still are choosing your A-levels I would definitely recommend you to do maths A-levels, if you have already started with your A-levels and haven’t done maths don’t worry, I would recommend you to do a foundation year so you can get all the necessary knowledge before you start your engineering degree.

Hope this helps
Kind regards,
Christian Rodriguez Howell
