Level 3 Applied Diploma or EPQ

So if I don’t get into my dream sixth form (which isn’t an unlikely situation), I’m considering taking Level 3 Applied Criminology as a fourth a-level as the course content is something that sounds quite interesting to me. However, I’m supposedly on the pathway to and thinking of applying to top unis (for law) and as far as I understand they don’t all accept said courses. The alternative would be to take an EPQ (honestly, I’m not sure if I’d prefer either) as research projects and writing about topics I enjoy is something that I truly enjoy. Which would be a better route to go down. Other subjects if going to non-dream sixth form (which would be the sixth form at my current school) would be Psychology, Politics, and French (which is not something I’m particularly sure about but if I don’t get in it’s the next back subject). Any advice would be great!

What year would you be starting sixth form?
I was under the impression the funding for level 3 applied criminology had been cut from 2025 and it was no longer being offered.
Either way, I would recommend doing an EPQ instead because doing 4 a levels or equivalent isnt really worth it as unis only care about 3 of your grades but an epq can be useful to discuss in interview/ps if it related to your degree subject and helps you develop skills in academic writing which are useful at uni.

I hadn’t heard anything about the funding being cut, but regardless I think I will take your advice and do the EPQ anyway.
