I did a foundation degree and 2 years of study, but i had to leave my course for mental health reasons, but I want to start a different course will I be able to have any sfe for the first year or will I have to pay for all 3 years myself?
Hi there,

Can you confirm the full name of your new course and what university will you attend? Do you have 3 years of previous study? Did you continue on the course for the 1st 2 years and had to leave in your 3rd year?

Thanks, Drew

I want to study climate and social change at goldsmiths university. I studied a foundation year and first and second year thinking of leaving after my second year because of mental health any way I can get funding for tuition or is that not possible anymore?

Thank you.

The way we calculate your entitlement is by the following calculation:
Length of course + additional year - previous study = entitlement.

For you it would be:
3 + 1 - 3 = 1year full funding.

You did mention you left due to mental health problems, was this during a course year? Or was it after the year had ended?

Thanks,
Ross

Yes it was during this course year, I was prescribed with insomnia medication.

Also would the funding be for the first year?

Hi there,

If you have 1 year of finance left we would give this in your final year of your new course. This means in year 1 and 2 you would get No Tuition Fees but would get Maintenance Loan and Supplementary Grant (if applicable).

If you have Compelling Personal Reasons evidence (CPR) why you didn't complete your previous course, you could send this to see if its possible to get Tuition Fees for 1 additional year. The evidence would be a letter on headed paper signed/stamped and dated from someone in profession i.e. Doctor/lecturer who knows the CPR. They must know how it affected your studies and the dates it affected you. Once received it will be up to the assessor if this will be accepted or not.

Thanks,
Claire
