Uom whitworth park ask me

HEYY! I lived in Garstang house WHITWORTH park last year. I didn’t apply there and honestly cried when I got given it and it looks like a 💩hole and the whole shared bathroom situation 🙈 BUT I am here to tell you guys honestly it’s not that bad, you grow to love it real quick. Just pray you get put with good flatmates then you’re sorted. It’s very basic Accom but you are SOOO close to the uni and it SOOO cheap it makes it worth it. If I could turn back time I would apply for Whitty P as first choice any day. Trust the process guys and you will have a blast. And if it is real bad at least you and your flat mates can bond over chatting **** about the state of your house. Anywaysss you’re gonna love it there trust me. HIT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS GUYS IM READY 💪💪💪💪

Hi  any idea what Thorncliffe house is like?
Can anyone whos in Whitworth park use the gym? And I heard there’s a lot of international students there, is that true? Thank you
Hey, thanks for the info! Is your room a standard single or a relatively larger room at Whitworth?
how bad was the rat/silverfish situation? I’m honestly terrified. Also is the accom mixed sex- how did you deal with sharing the showers?
do the heaters there actually work ? just checking since we're not allowed portable heaters there and i've heard a few things

You might see the odd one running about but it's never that deep tbh. We had two showers and a 4/3 M/F split so we just split showers down the middle

Been a few years since I lived there but I remember heating was on from like 5-11PM so I always damn near froze during all-nighters. It works when the heating is actually on tho!

I lived in Thorncliffe. I'd say its the second best house after Leamington. It has one of the biggest kitchens and overlooks Oxford Road which is nice. Since the shops on Oxford Road take up the ground floor there's quite a lot of steps though - this was the biggest downside for me.Odd flats have 2 levels and even flats have 3. Gym is **** but open free to use I'm p sure. Yes loads of international students but they're cool too! 😁

From what I’ve heard thorncliffe is definitely one of the nicest houses of them all, it is the most recently renovated and has generally bigger flats and rooms. Thorncliffe is the one right at the front above the shops on Oxford Road. And I’m pretty sure lots of the rooms have sinks which is a bonus. Don’t get me wrong it’s still very basic and not an Unsworth 🤣 but it’s the best of the bunch. You have to pay to use the gym 👎 I think the membership is £80 for the year which is pretty cheap - I’ve been in the gym a few times and it’s not massive but has got everything you need really. And yes there are a lot of internationals in whitworth - my flat 5/8 were international but everyone was super nice so all was good.

Hey! My room is standard. I feel like the pictures make it look bigger than it actually was. My room was the smallest in our flat but it was cute and cosy so it was ok.

Okay honestly I never had a problem with rats and saw a silver fish like twice in the bathroom. You do sometimes see rats run across the paths by the bins outside but have never seen them inside. Are you in a ground floor flat - because I think they are the ones who get issues. I was first floor so was fine. And yes it is mixed sex accom in my flat we had 4 girls and 4 boys. We had two showers to share and believe it or not it never caused an issue. I don’t know if I just got lucky with my flat and all our schedules were different but honestly it was so rare you would be in the bathroom at the same time as someone else! One thing I would recommend would be to get a shower caddy that you keep your shower stuff in and just bring it out your room when you need a shower - to stop people using your stuff! Also flip flops are a must!

Honestly the heating situation is a bit naff. you have no control over turning it on. It is just programmed to come on for a couple of hours. I had an electric blanket which was a life saver!! And just bring lots of normal blankets and a snuddie then you should be good

Hey, I was in Thornecliffe last year XD, I honestly loved it so much that I will be reapplying there for my third year. Yes it may not be the most modern looking or new looking accommodations but the location was prime and in Thornecliffe I found the rooms slightly bigger than in other houses (garstang/derby etc.) because of the washbasin in your room. My flatmates were thankfully pretty alright with keeping the kitchen clean and so we never really had any issues with pests except occasional tiny silverfish. Another plus point I liked about TH house is we have an extra gate right under our house hehe. Overall, it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. There are many international students but I think they tend to makeit a good mix. All of my friends in different flats had a mix of about half internationals and half locals.
