A-Level Maths

Hello, I achieved a grade 7 in maths gcse and i’m going into AS Level Maths. Is 7 too low to get a B as your final result at the end of year 13?
I think the most common A level grade for getting a grade 7 at GCSE is between a C and a D but a 7 should be fine for starting the course and if you work hard you could end up with a B. From the data I have (taken in 2019) about 15% of people who got a 7 at GCSE got a B at a level.

why does a grade 5 have a higher chance of getting an A* then a grade 7?

No idea, I didnt make the table- my mum showed me it off of mumsnet lol I have seen the data it comes from though and admit it’s a bit odd!

I’m just gonna aim for C in maths year 12 and B in maths year 13.

I achieved a low 9 in GCSE maths. My school has the option to do further maths. What are the advantages of doing further maths over physics for me (other two are English and history).

I achieved grade 7 at GCSE and am predicted A* in maths and have taken on AS Further Maths, predicted A in that. If you are willing to do alot of maths and really enjoy it, it is perfectly possible to get a B!

Don’t do further maths unless you need it for university. If you wanna try further maths, you can drop it in the second year if you get less than an A, so you’ve learnt the whole of normal maths before everyone else and the whole of year 13 is just revision for maths basically.

It depends on what you are trying to get out of your A-levels and more importantly, where you want to go for uni/what career you're chasing.
