can you write your IB Extended Essay about literally anything??

for example, I don't take IB Psych but I want to write my EE on a psych topic. Is this ok or is it like the EPQ (A Levels) where you have to write about a topic in a subject that you're studying? I'm a bit confused and hope someone will clear this up, preferably a teacher or a former/year 13 IB student. Many thanks!

Hello! I have just finished year 12 (1st year of IB in UK), here is the guidance I recieved from the Extended- Essay Coordinator at my school: "if writing a Subject Specific EE, you must be currently studying the subject at IBDP level. If writing a World Studies EE, you must be studying at least one of the disciplines at IBDP level". A world studies essay is one where you combined the knowledge from two subjects, so if you wanted to do a psychology topic which links to another subject you are studying then it would be possible as long as you do a World Studies essay. Hope that helps
