Grad job-what to do

I joined an audit graduate scheme and there is too much travel to random places everyday for weeks which I did not expect. Driving to random places in the middle of nowhere. Train travel is not possible due to location of sites.

Is there any way I can do ACA or ACCA or CIMA where I can work in an office and not have to travel to clients. What are the best roles to apply to?

Or what other parts of accountancy or similar related fields can I go into where my role would be office based.

I am really stressed out because I don't know what to do now

Audit jobs always involve client office based work. How else do you expect to be able to ask the questions necessary to understand their accounts or obtain the backup for each value given if you are not there. Face to face contact can’t be replaced by telephone calls and internet information sharing.
However an accounting degree doesn’t only lead to audit jobs. Management accounting is on the whole office based with little or no travel because you are in the accounts department of your employer. Have you thought of doing a CIMA qualification with a bank for example?

Hi, thanks for the response. I did a finance, management and accounting degree. What other things should I look at. Would I be able to get a job in the midlands?

There are all kinds of jobs that you could apply for. Not all graduate schemes are degree specific. I did an economics degree and then got a job buying commodities for an international company that wasn’t selling on but using them for its own production, and then did an ACCA when I wanted to change direction.
Of course you can look for jobs in the Midlands . Not everything is London and South East based. Have you tried signing up with an agency or looking at the clients that you are actually auditing. They often have vacancies in their accounts departments and are pleased to take on staff from their audit providers .
But don’t limit yourself just to graduate schemes. Sometimes jobs that are not advertised as part of a graduate scheme can be just as good or even better in providing training opportunities.

Hi, I would like to do the ACCA or ACA or CIMA but I am struggling to find anything that is commutable. Also I have no prior experience at an accountant or relevant work experience. How do I progress and become an accountant when I do not want to go into audit and travelling. What are my options?
