You'll find flats expensive too. There are Facebook groups though where you can find students looking for flatmates. I'd recommend staying in halls first year. You can list Andrew Melville hall or self catered standard as your top choices, to have the best chance of cheaper halls.
My daughter is going this year, staying in catered halls. It is a lot of money, but having compared costs at other Scottish unis it's not that much different. Her friend is paying the same amount for a self catered tiny room in Edinburgh.

here's a secret - i don't remember the exact % but a large amount of the rent on student accommodation is disguised tuition fees
